"Imposters" is a
television series produced by Universal Pictures and launched by the "Bravo"
channel and broadcast in 2017.
In Italy we were able to follow her in 2017 on "Premium Stories", in 2019 on
"Topcrime" and a few weeks ago also on Channel 20.
The series, whose previously announced title was "My So Called Wife" which
later became "Imposters", follows the story of a con woman named Maddie,
played by Inbar Lavi who we have already admired in the role of Sheba in "Prison
Break" and Eve. in "Lucifer".
Maddie Johnson is a professional scammer who makes her victims fall in love
with herself and then scams them, stealing what they have of value: from
money to objects.
Maddie is helped in carrying out her scams by two teammates Max (played by
Brian Benben) and Sally (played by Katherine LaNasa) and works on behalf of
the mysterious "doctor", an elderly gentleman who leads the gang.
Maddie seduces men and even women to take advantage of them and steal
valuables and money and then run away leaving her victims devastated for the
harm that is caused by her actions.
But not everything will go smoothly since three of her victims: two men and
a woman who she seduced, married and robbed join together to take back what
was stolen by deception and give a life lesson to the woman. .
The three ex-scammers or Ezra Bloom (played by Rob Heaps), Richard Evans (played
by Parker Young) and Julia Langmore (played by Stephen Bishop) to recover
from the harm done to them by Maddie will in turn become scammers and rob
herself from all taking back even what has been stolen from him. Becoming in
turn diabolical minds.
On their trail the FBI agent named Patrick (played by Stephen Bishop) who
becomes "victim" of Maddie in order to dismantle the organization and arrest
the "doctor".
"Guest star" of the series the legendary Uma Thurman who plays the character
of Lenny Cohen, called by the "doctor" every time she has to clean up a
"crime" scene or hunt down her men who try to grab the objects of her scams.
The series was canceled after two seasons.
