In 1963 Federico Fellini wanted all ingenuity and still black in "8 ½", an autobiographical film that tells the life of a director, played by Marcello Mastroianni, divided between his wife (Anouk Aimèe) and the sensual lover Carla played by Sandra Milo . Winning film of 2 Oscars: "Best Costumes" to Piero Gherardi and "Best Foreign Film".
The title of the film refers to the number of directories signed by Fellini, half refers to his debut film where he signed half of "Variety Lights", the other part was directed by Alberto Lattuada.
In 1965 she was erotically obsessive in "Giulietta degli spiriti" with Giulietta Masina, where she plays three characters: Susy, Iris and Fanny.
It was the first color film directed by Fellini and the one that closed his collaboration with the screenwriter Ennio Flaiano.
For both films, in 1964 and 1966, she took home the "Nastro d’ Argento "as" Best Supporting Actress ".

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

D: In the film you play a Sicilian woman who is fighting for the value she believes in most: that is family! What was it like playing this character and what are the emotions you felt as a character and not as an actress?

A: << Well, in the meantime the character looks a lot like me, I too am a Sicilian woman, on my father's side, then of course I am a woman who deeply believes in family values ??and therefore I resemble the character of the film, just as it is! >>

D: Of all the scenes you have shot, which is the one that struck you the most?

A: << The one when I kick my son out of the house, because I identified myself and I was thinking of me chasing Ciro, my son, and therefore I had a very painful scene, difficult to do, but of course I did it like the script he said. >>

Q: What were the things about the script that moved you?

A: << First of all, shooting with a very young girl, Annarita, who is a girl who writes, directs, has made music, she is truly a talented girl with great willpower, with a great ability to realize who they are. your dreams. And this is quite difficult because we all dream but then in the end we find it difficult to make dreams real, instead she succeeded, she succeeded well and therefore I feel admiration for Annarita and I am happy to have participated in the film of this young woman and beautiful girl. >>

Q: This film has attracted the attention of the public who eagerly awaits him at the cinema, in Sicily in particular it has already become an event. In your opinion, what are the factors that made this film a highly anticipated event even before its release?

A: << The proper fact of history. The story tells of a woman who has desires, ambitions and aspirations and then obviously with a lot of effort and with a lot of determination she manages to achieve, so it is the story of a victory of a human being who wins in the adversities of life and then he manages to translate his dreams into reality. I think this is very beautiful, then it reflects the true character of the Sicilian woman who is very strong, determined and has a lot of importance also in the family for her strength. >>


Q: What are the reasons why the public should see this film?
 

A: << See how you have to fight and how not to be demoralized in the face of the defeats that are inevitable in life, but you have to believe in yourself, believe deeply in your desires, in your aspirations and fight to be fulfilled. >>
 

D: Some have defined “In the heart of a diva” a film that is very inspired by the cinema of Neorealism, because it manages to tell reality as it is and with a touch of magic! What are your thoughts on this statement?

A: << The film has the form of innocence, in the sense that it tells a story with simplicity trying to stay close to reality - In this I must say that Annarita has succeeded very well. >>

Q: How did you meet Annarita Campo?

A: << Annarita Campo, phoned me one day, told me that she was a Sicilian girl who wanted to make a film ... and I was immediately struck by her determination, her willpower, her ability not to give up. go ahead, I met her, she was with her mother, two amazing women. I look at her, with a kind of surprise and admiration. >>

Q: How was your relationship with her on set?

A: << Excellent, excellent! Because she is very cheerful, she is one who, it is not because she makes the film that she forgets to laugh, no! Remember that you have to eat, that you have to eat well, that eating is a party and therefore well, very well, I am like that too, I don't want to lose sight of what are the little pleasures of everyday life.

Q: ”What are the feelings you want to convey with this film?

A: << Precisely this, the strength of love, the strength to believe in human abilities. This is very important, then many people let themselves be taken by depression and no longer believe in themselves, they no longer believe in others. Instead, believing is very important, because if man wants to marry the mountains too. >>

Q: Why did you choose to work with her?

A: I have already said, because I liked her abilities, her inner strength, her ability to fight to the end for her own battles. I really enjoyed all this! >>

Q: If you were to indicate with a number the skill of the camp, from 1 to 100, which number would you choose?

A: << I don't like numbers, because numbers are far from art. La Campo is a talented girl that I am sure that if she continues she will make a great cinema, a beautiful cinema and this is what I wish her with all my heart. >>

Q: The Sicilian press and some directors have declared that Campo manages to make films like no one can do anymore and also for this reason her style has been compared to some directors. In your opinion, which directors of Neorealism do you resemble the most and why?

A: << To Rossellini's neorealism, which is made up of great truth, great passion and as a temperament it is closer to the Campo. >>

Q: Your best moment, what was it? The moment when she felt truly happy?

A: << When my children were born, and therefore three times! >>

Q: The first thing you look at in a person?

A: << The first thing you look at is inner honesty, that is, loyalty, the ability to be yourself and it takes a lot of courage to be yourself, because we all try to look better than we are, but to look like we are it really takes courage. Here I like people who have the courage to be themselves >>.

Q: How is the relationship with dreams? Do you have any dreams to fulfill or have you already realized everything?

R: << No, for heaven's sake !! There are still many dreams to fulfill. Dreams are important in human life, because without dreams it is like starting to die. Ninth! You have to have many dreams and dream of making them come true and try to make them come true !!! >>

Sandra Milo, grande Diva del Cinema Italiano, ben 41 anni di spettacolo alle spalle, tra le poche conosciute ed ammirate dal panorama internazionale, molto amata dal pubblico per la sua grande umanità e la sua immensa dolcezza. Mamma di tre figli: Debora, avuta dal matrimonio con il produttore Moris Ergas e poi Ciro e Azzurra avuti dal matrimonio con Ottavio De Lollis. Ha un grande amore per gli animali in special modo per i gatti ed i cani. Il suo primo cane si chiamava “Fortunella”, e nella scelta del nome si è ispirata al personaggio del “Corriere dei Piccoli”:
Ha avuto moltissimo animali nella sua vita, una volta è arrivata ad avere in casa sino a venticinque gattini.
E’ una di quelle persone dal grande cuore, che condanna chi abbandona o maltratta gli animali.
Ma passiamo alla sua carriera artistica, che inizia negli anni ’60, quanto ventenne, arrivò a Cinecittà, tra le sue caratteristiche: una bellezza come il sole e un’allegria che ti coinvolge.
Su ordine di Fellini e Pietrangeli i suoi capelli neri diventarono “platinati”, e le fu dato un nome d’arte: “Milo”, in omaggio alle sue forme mentre il nome “Sandra” le venne dato per farle assumere un’aria familiare.
La sua carriera cinematografica è iniziata partecipando a diversi film, nei quali ha ricoperto piccole parti, come ne “Lo Scapolo” con Alberto Sordi del 1955 e con Totò nel film “Totò nella luna” del 1958, ma il primo ruolo importante lo ebbe ne “Il generale della Rovere” del 1959 per la regia di Roberto Rossellini.

Per ambedue i film, nel 1964 e nel 1966, porta a casa il “Nastro d’Argento” come “Miglior attrice non protagonista”.
Ripercorrendo la carriera artistica di Sandra Milo, andremmo a ricordare tutta la storia del Cinema Italiano, è stata una delle esponenti principali della Storia del nostro Cinema, protagonista di pellicole che ne hanno fatto la storia e tanti i nomi che la hanno affiancata: da Sordi a Totò, dalla Masina alla Bardot, da Vittorio De Sica a Ugo Tognazzi, una lista di nomi che non finisce mica qui, potremmo continuare con Jean-Paul Belmondo, Silvia Koscina, Eduardo De Filippo, Vittorio Gassman, Marcello Mastroianni, Catherina Denueve, Anouk Aimèe, Anita Ekberg, Ciccio Ingrassia, e poi ancora Fernandel (il mitico Don Camillo),ecc.
La lista potrebbe pure continuare, ma arriveremmo sempre allo stesso punto, e cioè che la Milo è una grande attrice dal grande cuore, tanto è che alla fine degli anni ’60 ha rallentato la sua carriera per dedicarsi alla sua famiglia ed in particolar modo ai suoi due figli: Ciro e Azzurra.
Nel Cinema tornerà nel 2003 per interpretare “Il cuore altrove” di Pupi Avati e successivamente nel film “Nel cuore di una diva” per la regia della giovanissima Annarita Campo, di prossima uscita.
Per il debutto televisivo dobbiamo ritornare indietro nel tempo e con precisione nel 1966 quando ricopre il ruolo di animatrice di “Studio Uno”. Nel 1983 ha partecipato a “Mixer” di Gianni Minori, nel 1984 ha presentato su Raidue il programma “Piccoli Fans”, ma la trasmissione che è rimasta più espressa nella memoria dei telespettatori è stata “L’amore è una cosa meravigliosa” del 1989, quando durante una diretta televisiva la Milo venne raggiunta da una telefonata anonima, era l’8 gennaio del 1990, dove le venne comunicato che il figlio Ciro era rimasto coinvolto in un incidente. Una telefonata di cattivo gusto che naturalmente comunicava una notizia falsa, ma il pubblico da casa rimase attaccato al televisore per capire quello che era successo, scosso dal grande dolore provato da una madre nei confronti del figlio.
A questo programma susseguono moltissime partecipazioni televisive. Nel 2002 interpreta una ex soubrette sessantenne nella fiction di Canale 5, “Ma il portiere non c’è mai?” con Giampiero Ingrassia.
Nel 2005 è stata tra le protagoniste del reality “Ritorno al presente” presentato da Carlo Conti ed in onda su Raiuno, dove è arrivata in finale occupando il secondo posto delle preferenze, sempre nel 2005 ha partecipato al reality di rete 4 “Il Grande Circo” condotto da Emanuela Folliero, dove ha sfoggiato le sue doti circensi.
Ultimamente si è data al teatro, interpretando diverse commedie, che l’hanno portata in tournèe per tutta l’Italia, tra cui la recente “Di profilo sembro pazzo” al fianco di Gianfranco D’Angelo, per la regia di Claudio Insegno, che ha raccolto un grande successo di pubblico.
Adesso è di nuovo in tournèe teatrale con un nuovo spettacolo sempre al fianco di D’Angelo.
Dopo aver riassunto in poche parole 41 anni di carriera di colei che rimarrà una delle grandi Dive del Cinema Italiano, sveliamo e capiamo i segreti di questo film tanto atteso, attraverso un’intervista esclusiva alla stessa.

INTERVISTA ESCLUSIVA

D: Nel film lei interpreta una donna siciliana che si trova a combattere per il valore in cui crede di più: che è la famiglia! Come è stato interpretare questo personaggio e quali sono le emozioni che ha provato da personaggio e non da attrice?

R: <<Beh, intanto il personaggio mi assomiglia molto, io pure sono una donna siciliana, da parte di mio padre, poi naturalmente sono una donna che crede profondamente nei valori della famiglia e quindi assomiglio al personaggio del film, come appunto è!>>

D: Tra tutte le scene che ha girato, quale è quella che l’ha colpita di più?

R:<<Quella quando caccio mio figlio da casa, perché mi sono immedesimata e pensavo a me che cacciavo Ciro, mio figlio, e quindi ho avuto una scena molto dolorosa, difficile da fare, però naturalmente l’ho fatto come il copione mi diceva.>>

D: Della sceneggiatura, quali sono state le cose che l’hanno emozionata?

R: <<Innanzitutto girare con una ragazza giovanissima, Annarita, che è una ragazza che scrive, dirige, ha fatto le musiche, è veramente una ragazza di talento e con grande forza di volontà, con una grande capacità appunto di realizzare quelli che sono i propri sogni. E questo è abbastanza difficile perché tutti sogniamo però poi alla fine abbiamo difficoltà a rendere reali i sogni, lei invece c’è riuscita, c’è riuscita bene e quindi io provo ammirazione per Annarita e sono felice di aver partecipato al film di questa giovane e splendida ragazza.>>

D: Questo film ha attirato l’attenzione del pubblico che lo attende impaziente al cinema, in Sicilia in special modo è diventato già un evento. Secondo lei, quali sono i fattori che hanno reso questo film un evento attesissimo ancora prima dell’uscita?

R: <<Il fatto proprio della storia. La storia racconta di una donna che ha dei desideri, delle ambizioni e delle aspirazioni e che poi ovviamente con molta fatica e con molta determinazione riesce a conseguire, quindi è il racconto di una vittoria di un essere umano che vince nelle avversità della vita e poi riesce a tradurre in realtà appunto i suoi sogni. Credo che questo sia molto bello, poi appunto rispecchia il carattere veramente della donna siciliana che è molto forte, determinata e tanta importanza ha anche nell’ambito familiare per la sua forza.>>

D: Quali sono i motivi per cui il pubblico dovrebbe vedere questo film?
 

R: <<Vedere come bisogna lottare e come non demoralizzarsi di fronte alle sconfitte che sono inevitabili nella vita, però bisogna credere in sé stessi, credere profondamente nei propri desideri, nelle proprie aspirazioni e battersi per realizzarsi.>>
 

D: Alcuni hanno definito “Nel cuore di una diva” un film che si ispira molto al cinema del Neorealismo, perché riesce a raccontare la realtà così come è e con un tocco di magia! Quale è il suo pensiero su questa dichiarazione?

R: <<Il film ha forma di innocenza, nel senso che racconta una storia con semplicità cercando di restare vicino alla realtà- In questo devo dire che Annarita ci è riuscita benissimo.>>

D: Come ha conosciuto Annarita Campo?

R: <<Annarita Campo, mi ha telefonato un giorno, mi ha detto che era una ragazza siciliana che voleva fare un film … e mi hanno colpito subito la sua determinazione, la sua forza di volontà, la sua capacità di non arrendersi, ad andare avanti, l’ho incontrata, era con sua madre, due donne straordinarie. Io guardo a lei, con una sorta di sorpresa e di ammirazione.>>

D: Come è stato il suo rapporto con lei sul set?

R: <<Ottimo, ottimo! Perché lei è molto allegra, è una che, non è perché gira il film che si dimentica di ridere, no! Si ricorda che bisogna mangiare, che bisogna mangiare bene, che mangiare è una festa e quindi bene, molto bene, anche io sono così, non voglio perdere di vista quelli che sono i piccoli piacere del quotidiano.>>


D:” Quali sono i sentimenti che volete trasmettere con questo film?

R: <<Proprio questo, la forza dell’amore, la forza di credere nelle capacità umane. Questo è importantissimo, poi molta gente si lascia prendere dalla depressione e non crede più in sé stessi, non crede più negli altri. Invece credere è importantissimo, perché l’uomo se vuole sposa pure le montagne.>>

D: Come mai ha scelto di lavorare con lei?

R: <<L’ho già detto, perché mi piacevano le sue capacità, la sua forza interiore, la sua capacità di combattere sino in fondo per le proprie battaglie. Mi è piaciuto molto tutto questo!>>

D: Se dovesse indicare con un numero la bravura della Campo, da 1 a 100, quale numero sceglierebbe?

R: <<Io non amo i numeri, perché i numeri sono lontani dall’arte. La Campo è una ragazza di talento che sono sicura che se continuerà farà un ottimo cinema, un bellissimo cinema e questo è quello che le auguro con tutto il cuore.>>

D: La stampa siciliana e alcuni registi hanno dichiarato che la Campo riesce a fare film come nessuno sa fare più e anche per questo suo stile è stata paragonata ad alcuni registi. Secondo lei a quali registi del Neorealismo assomiglia di più e perché?

R: <<Al neorealismo di Rossellini, che è fatto di grande verità, di grande passione e come temperamento è più vicino alla Campo.>>

D: Il suo momento più bello, quale è stato? Il momento in cui si è sentita veramente felice?

R: <<Quando sono nati i miei figli, e quindi tre volte! >>

D: La prima cosa che guarda in una persona?

R: <<La prima cosa che guarda è l’onestà interiore, cioè la lealtà, la capacità di essere sé stessi e ci vuole molto coraggio ad essere sé stessi, perché tutti cerchiamo di apparire migliori di quelli che siamo, ma apparire come siamo realmente ci vuole coraggio. Ecco mi piace la gente che ha coraggio di essere sé stessa>>.

D: Come è il rapporto con i sogni? Ha qualche sogno da realizzare o ha già realizzato tutto?

R: <<No, per carità!! C’è ne ho ancora tanti sogni da realizzare. I sogni sono importanti nella vita umana, perché senza sogni è come cominciare a morire. No,no! Bisogna avere tanti sogni e sognare di realizzarli e cercare di realizzarli!!!>>
